Admission to Geneseo is very selective. Candidates are considered on the basis of several criteria: quality of academic preparation, including the academic rigor of courses completed; appropriateness of the courses in relation to intended major; cumulative grade point average; and a grade point average in courses related to the intended major. If you visit the College with transcripts of all your coursework, a counselor will advise you about your chances for admission and the amount of transfer credit you can expect to receive.
The most successful admission candidates present a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher.
Admission to Schools of Business and Education
Due to limited positions available in the Schools of Business and Education, admission tends to be more competitive. If you are offered admission to the college, a separate application is required for either program. Additional information will be included in your offer of admission.
If you have fewer than 24 credits at the time of application, you will be considered for admission to the College in a general studies or
pre-business/pre-education status.
Matriculation in either the School of Business or Education will be determined once you have completed at least one semester of study at Geneseo.
