Scholarships for New Students
The College awards a few merit scholarships to new students--mostly through the Geneseo Foundation. All applicants are considered and awards are made at the time of admission or shortly thereafter.
Unlike many institutions, public and private, Geneseo has made a commitment to dedicate the full measure of its resources to its mission--
to offer the highest quality education possible. Thus, funds that might be used for merit scholarships are used to enhance the student experience. This enables the College to assure
that classes for all students are as small as
possible and that our facilities are what one might expect at a first-rate undergraduate liberal arts college.

The Edgar Fellows Program:
Honors at Geneseo
The Edgar Fellows Program at Geneseo is
designed to enhance the education of a small group of highly motivated students through personalized and challenging coursework. Edgar Fellows take specially designed honors seminars and write a thesis during the senior year. Forty students are invited to join the program each year, thirty freshmen and ten sophomores. While the Edgar Fellows Committee considers students with a 93
or higher high school average and an SAT score
of at least 1400, students that are invited to join
the program typically have at least a 96 high school average and over a 1400 on the SAT exam. Membership carries a $8,000 Presidential Scholarship, $2,000 each year for up to four years. |
